Geography

Geography is the study of the earth and its features, inhabitants, and phenomena. A literal translation would be "to describe or write about the Earth". The first person to use the word "geography" was Eratosthenes (276-194 B.C.). Four historical traditions in geographical research are the spatial analysis of natural and human phenomena (geography as a study of distribution), area studies (places and regions), study of man-land relationship, and research in earth sciences. Nonetheless, modern geography is an all-encompassing discipline that foremost seeks to understand the world and all of its human and natural complexities-- not merely where objects are, but how they have changed and come to be. As "the bridge between the human and physical sciences," geography is divided into two main branches - human geography and physical geography.

The savannah

A savanna is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be found between a tropical rain forest and desert biome. Not enough rain falls on a savanna to support forests. Savannas are also known as tropical grasslands. They are found in a wide band on either side of the equator on the edges of tropical rain forests.

Savannas have warm temperature year round. There are actually two very different seasons in a savanna; a very long dry season (winter), and a very wet season (summer). In the dry season only an average of about 4 inches of rain falls. Between December and February no rain will fall at all. Oddly enough, it is actually a little cooler during this dry season. But don't expect sweater weather; it is still around 70° F.

Biomes

A biome is a large geographical area of distinctive plant and animal groups, which are adapted to that particular environment. The climate and geography of a region determines what type of biome can exist in that region. Major biomes include deserts, forests, grasslands, tundra, and several types of aquatic environments. Each biome consists of many ecosystems whose communities have adapted to the small differences in climate and the environment inside the biome. All living things are closely related to their environment. Any change in one part of an environment, like an increase or decrease of a species of animal or plant, causes a ripple effect of change in through other parts of the environment.

Marine ecosystem

Marine ecosystems are part of the earth's hydrotic ecosystem/biome. The marine ecosystem includes oceans, estuaries, salt marshes, lagoons, some tropical ecosystems, such as mangrove forests and coral reefs, rocky, subtidal ecosystems, and shores. The main difference between this and other aquatic ecosystems is its salt content larger than that of fresh water. That is what a marine ecosystem is

Rain Forest

The geography of a rain forest is jagged, smooth, spiky, viny, I mean, it really varies in the rain forest.
This will explain the animals of the rain forest. The amazing part of the rain forest is that it is home to about half of all species on the planet, so it is completely full of animals.
The vegetation of a rain forest is just all trees, all dirt, and all leaves. The rain forest is completely full of lush vegetation!!!!
The climate of a rain forest is hot summers and cool winters. The rain forest is a very warm biome to live in.

Desert

The geography of the desert biome can sometimes be a very jagged or smooth ecosystem. There can also be cliffs, canyons, few rivers, maybe an oasis or two, and many other stuff.
The desert is not a home to many species of animals, just cold-blooded creatures, such as reptiles. Some of these creatures are lizards, snakes, iguanas, and many more where that came from!
The vegetation of a desert is not a lot, just some weeds, cactus- es, and just only a couple of trees. Not much to it but what I typed!
The climate of the desert is hot all year and averages are 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Summer and winter. The desert is the hottest biome ever!

New Video Game! Yay!

At Sunday, March 9, 2008 I got a new video game. The game is called Super smash Bros. Brawl. In the game, the point is to beat the heck out of other Nintendo characters with the one that you choose. It may only seem like that, but you can play online, build stages, play as 35 different charachters, nearly doubling the ones in Super Smash Bros Melee and tripling the ones from the original Super Smash Bros. All of the charachters in brawl in a b c order are bowser, captain falcon, diddy kong, donkey kong, falco, fox, ganondorf, ice climbers, ike, jigglypuff, king dedede, Kirby, link, lucario, Lucas, Luigi, Mario, marth, Meta knight, Mr. game & watch, ness, olimar, peach, pikachu, pit, Pokemon trainer, R.o.b, samus, sheik, snake, sonic, toon link, wario, wolf, Yoshi, Zelda, and zero-suit samus. That's 36 right there. You can also listen to some music and play classic games in which the charachters come from many other wonderful things to do in the game. Some of the 1-p modes are classic, all-star, The subspace emissary, and stadium mode, It's my favorite game out so far!

Skittles results

It turns out that my hypothesis was wrong. I thought that every bag had exactly the same amount of each color of skittles. But, it turns out that the skittles factory puts in different amounts of different skittles for each bag of skittles. It all depends on what bag you have, but it is highly unlikely if you get two skittles bags with the same amount of skittles as another skittles bag. I LOVE SKITTLES A REAL LOT!!!!!!!!

Climate

This in a post about climate. Climate is not weather, but it is weather over a long period of time. Climate is also the average of temperature of a certain placee. The average climate for California is around about 20-90 degrees farenheit. In some places it can be -10 degrees farenheit. And in other places it can be 100 degrees farenheit. Climate is all around us!

Obama in the lead

WOW! It really looks like Obama caught up to Clinton and now he is in the lead. Even though McCain is still winning, I'd rather vote for Romney. Yet one thing is for sure. The president sure is'nt going to be George Bush!(that's a good thing)

Elections, 2008

For democrats who are you going to vote for? Obama or Clinton. For republicans, who are you going to vote for? Romney, McCain, or Huckabee? So far Clinton and McCain are winning. Not the best, but good , too. The match that I want to make is Barack Obama and Romney(if I could vote). Who are you going to vote for?

Science Fair

What did you do for your science project? I put an egg in different cups, some with salt water and some with plain water and the egg floats in salt water more. Also, the more salt you put in it, the more the egg floats. A project of someone else's I liked was the potato clock. Even though it didn't seem to work out when I saw it. What was your project? What other project do you like?
